My jogging shoes hit the concrete as I run, making a dull thudding noise every time my feet touch the ground. My pants are sticking to me from the sweat that has built up on my skin from running so far and so hard. My thin tank top is also clinging to my body, probably showing the outline of my bra as I run, but I am very eager to get away because I need to save myself, even if I look ridiculous doing it. Sweat runs down my face from where my hairline is and I curse the humid night air. I run past an alley way, and I pray that it's empty. The last thing I need is for something else to happen to me before I make it out of this area of town safely. It's not the good part of town, and I hate that I'm in it. As I pass a dark alley, thankfully no one jumps out at me, or tries to mug me. Finally, I see salvation waiting for me in the form of a bus stop. I make it into the small shelter, and try my best to hide myself away from curious prying eyes. I am glad it's late at night because no one else is out here and I won't have to answer unnecessary questions. If I say too much, I could reveal things I don't want anyone to know, and that would be bad. I catch sight of the map that I am looking for that is displayed on the bus stop wall, and realize that I have gotten lucky once again, for there is a bus coming in no less than three minutes. I wish I had a hooded jacket on so I could hide my face, but I suddenly get an idea and release my hair from the hair tie it had been trapped in. I fluff my hair around, and cover as much of the sides of my face with it as I can.
I try to remain as calm as I can despite the adrenaline coursing through every vein in my body. I can't believe I was that stupid. I knew I shouldn't have defied the boss, but I always do shit like this. I can't help it, but I know that I really need to get my act together, or I'm going to end up dead. I shouldn't have botched the job like that... the client got mad and then sent his thugs after me. I should have just said what my boss told me to say, then we would have gotten that deal like we were supposed to. My boss is going to be pissed. Fuck... why did I think that being on the other side of the law was such a good idea. I swear, the way my stupid mind thinks sometimes is just awful. I know it's cause I'm still fairly young, but man, do I need to grow up. The thrill of being a drug dealer is amazing and I don't even have to use the stuff, but god, is it stressful, especially when shit goes wrong. The money though... the money is awesome. There's no other job where you can earn thousands of dollars faster than you can blink without much effort. I hear the sound of air brakes as the bus pulls up to where I am, and I try to stop myself from shaking as the doors open and I get on, finding a seat in the middle, by a window. I slump down in the seat so I'm barely visible to the outside world, and breathe a sigh of relief as the bus pulls away. Another close call.
The tall buildings with their shiny windows pass by my eyeline as the bus drives into the ritzier part of town. I wish I lived here instead of where I actually live. There's three distinct neighborhoods in the town where I live, the really bad part, which is where I was, the good part I wish I lived in, and the so-so part, where my apartment is. There's still crime in my area, but it's not as out in the open as it is in the bad part. A car parked on the street in the good part of town catches my eye, and I wish that I hadn't seen it because it's bringing up memories, which is not what I need right now. My adrenaline has calmed now that I know I'm no longer being chased, but that's when my thoughts start going a million miles an hour. The car reminded me of my boyfriend, who's now gone, but who is the main reason I'm in this mess in the first place.
As the bus pulls up to the bus stop close to my apartment complex, I quickly get off and enter my apartment building. Oh did I mention too, the building has been under construction for over a year. Yeah... Why do I live in the so-so part of town when I just said I make a lot of money earlier? Well... that's the thing, my boss keeps most of it, and I only get to keep a few thousand dollars of it, which is usually $2,000. In this town, rent is on the high end, and even in the so-so part of town, my rent is $1,100 a month. That's why, I can't live in the good part. I'm lucky enough that my building has minimal security however, there's an intercom for visitors that locks the elevators and doors to the stairwells, so you have to know who you want to see and call their apartment before it will let you up. You need a key to get into the lobby of the building, but that doesn't stop lock-pickers from coming in. There was one time where a girl got assaulted in the lobby late at night, so yeah... the so-so part of town.
I punch in my code to the intercom and the elevator doors click letting me know they've been unlocked, and I push the up button. I really want a nice shower after being soaked from sweat and I can't wait to get out of my nasty clothes which need a good washing. As I walk down the hallway, I shiver a little from the building's central air hitting my damp skin. I'm relieved when I stop in front of my door and am able to open it, so that I can finally relax. However, when I open the door, I am rendered speechless because it's like I have seen a ghost. The person leaning against my breakfast bar is the last person I had imagined I would ever see again. He is Rafael Ossini, my boyfriend, whom I thought I had lost two years ago.
Author's Note: I decided to start out with the Emperor of Evil LTW, and the Criminal Career (Evil) path. The Evil trait has always been one of my favorites, so that helped influence that decision. LOL. I'm currently playing in Bridgeport.
I’ve never heard of the “Going Solo Challenge” before, but I looked into it after reading this and it sounds pretty cool. What especially appeals to me about it is, well, the solo aspect of it, lol. While I know most simmers seem to like overstuffed households, I’m so controlling that such houses stress me out sometimes o_o; I always find myself pausing every 10 seconds to make sure each and every sim is doing what I asked them to XD Thus, having only a couple sims definitely sounds more manageable.
ReplyDeleteI love that you’ve started out by selecting the Criminal Career Path first. That’s sure to lead to quite the interesting story and of course, I’m already super curious as to where everything will go from here. You really know how to build up a mystery ;)
I’m wondering how Natalia’s boss is going to react to the fact that she botched this latest job (and badly too it seems if the guy sent thugs after her!). My general guess? BADLY, lol. I can’t decide though whether the fact that her “long lost” boyfriend coming back into the picture is a good thing that can help her out, or an entirely bad thing—like he’s there because the boss sent him or something. I mean, he does have that soft/remorseful look on his face in that last image there, but what if that’s because he has to eliminate her or something!? Lol, well, too soon to really tell either way, but you know I’m excited to find out ^_^
A compelling start indeed!
IKR? I thought the Going Solo challenge would be a great way for me to experience all the different things Sims has to offer because lord knows there are still parts of this game that I haven't played yet. I do the overstuffed thing too, but it's usually because I have the main characters all in one household, not because I have too many Sim kids. That part of the "solo," is something I'm used to since Echoes has only had one kid per generation so far. I'm going to try with this one to not stuff everyone into the same household.
DeleteHahah, the Criminal Career is one of my favorites, and I always pick Evil and that career for my Simself. LOL. I love it when they get to the top of the Criminal Career, and they're around a Good Sim, because they'll glow red and the Good Sim usually faints or runs away flailing. It's awesome. Haha. So, I did go with one career that I am used to, but I figured I would start off with some familiarity.
Yikes, IKR? Criminal boss dudes... they can be really scary sometimes. Ehh... I guess some people jump the gun and just send thugs cause they can, or she ran away so the thugs needed to chase her so they could finish the deal. All of that will be revealed later on, first off is the mystery of Rafael. There are multiple reasons people go missing and it could just be coincidence too, simply from the randomness of life being the way it is.
Thanks for the compliments, and for stopping by and commenting!
LOL I so didn't know that! That's hilarious. I mean, I remember completing the criminal career a while back, but I suppose my sim was never around a sim with the "Good" trait so I never got to see that interaction. Gosh, how is it that I can play a game for years on end and yet sometimes still discover new things about it? I suppose that's part of what makes the Sims such a great game though :) It's also why I chose a DITFT challenge myself--it forces me to play the game in ways that I might not have on my own. It looks like the Going Solo challenge is really good for that as well. It'll be exciting to see where things go from here :)
DeleteLOL, IKR? I remember the day I found that out, it's cause I sent my Simself to the Art Gallery soon after she became the Emperor of Evil, and a few Sims freaked the fuck out. LOL. I wonder that too, and then I'm like, yes, it's because the Sims is such a great game. XD Yeah, I saw the DITFT rules too, like, it seems a lot more structured than a lot of other challenges. Haha, Going Solo, definitely good for exploration, for sure. :)
DeleteWhat an intriguing start. She who is nameless ;) sounds like she's in a bit of trouble and is lucky to be alive. Hopefully her boss is a forgiving person otherwise that could be a problem.
ReplyDeleteHello ex! 2 years he's been gone and now he's back? Something tells me this isn't a happy reunion visit.
Thank you very much. Haha, yeah, I wanted to keep some mystery in the first chapter. She did get herself into a bit of a pickle, but she's got a lot of survival skills built up. We'll find out what her boss says when she goes back to work, but for now she's just happy she got away.
DeleteHmm... there are lots of reasons people disappear, gone, was her thinking he was dead, so it was very disconcerting for her to see that he was in fact, very much alive. Next chapter goes into why he's there and what happened to him.
Thanks for reading and commenting!
Wow this is a great start to your story. I love your founder and I can't wait to find out more about her. I see you are starting with the Criminal ltw and career first which is already different than what any of us have already done.
ReplyDeleteThe ex who she thought was dead is now alive and waiting for her in her apartment. I wonder what happened to him and why is he back now. Looking forward to finding out.
Hi Piazza Girl! Welcome to Solace of Elysium. Heehee.
DeleteThanks so much. I am glad you liked it. Yeah, Criminal is my favorite, LOL. I think I'm a little different in that sense, as I don't find the Evil trait negative in the slightest. XD
Yup, yup. He's actually not dead. O_O We'll find out those answers to your questions in the next chapter. :)
Thanks for reading and commenting!
Good start! I love the evil trait, haha, it's a fun one to play with as is the career ^^
ReplyDeleteHow odd for her boyfriend to show up now. How did she think she had lost him? Did she think he was dead or did they break up? I guess I'll wait and see :P
Your founder is very pretty and an interesting character, can't wait to see more of her :)
Hi! Welcome to Solace of Elysium!
DeleteLOL, IKR? Evil Sims make me laugh. XD
Oh, she thought he died, but we'll find out how she thought he died in chapter 2.
Thank you for reading and commenting!
Oh wow! What an awesome start! I'm looking forward to learning more about your founder.
ReplyDeleteLooks like she's in a bit of trouble and is lucky to still be breathing. To top it off, she had a surprise blast from the past waiting for her in her apartment. Now, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next.
Hi sweetnightingale! Welcome to Solace of Elysium. :)
DeleteThank you. ^_^
Yeah, she kind of screwed up that assignment tonight, but she had enough endurance to run away luckily. LOL, yeah, she thought she was just going to have a relaxing night when she got home, but life didn't think she deserved that. LOL. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for reading and commenting!
Ooooooh, I really love the start of this! Can I just say that your writing is amazing? I love how your founder describes everything and the differences between the three very different parts of town. I felt like I was right there with her, walking/running the streets, trying to stay to the shadows and not be seen. So much is being set up already and I love it. I'm so excited to get to the next few chapters. XD Especially with her ex unexpectedly showing up and breaking into her moderately secure home. :)
ReplyDeleteHi! Welcome to Solace of Elysium!
DeleteLOL, aww, T_T, thanks so much. That makes me really happy to hear, that you felt like you were with her. Heehee, I enjoyed describing everything, I haven't played in Bridgeport in a while, so it was fun thinking big city wise again. Haha, yes, I wanted to give myself something to jump off of for the next chapter, so set up stuff is good. Yes, the mysterious ex waiting for her... o.O LOL.
Thank you for reading and commenting!
Amazing start! She doesn't look evil at all. On the contraty, she looks more like a teacher. quite sweet, lovable. I imagine a lot is yet to happen...
ReplyDeleteOuch, I didn't want to be in her place. first she screw up with her boss, then meets the "ghost" from her boyfriend. I wonder what he'd been doing to play dead during two long years.
Well, I guess her boss won't kill her because she's the founder hehe. But I wonder how she's going to get out of this anyway ;)
Hi Eliroc! Thank you. LOL, yeah, she doesn't look evil that's true. Haha, you think she looks like a teacher? XD She does have a cute face. She's a nice person, she has gotten involved in the criminal world because she found it exciting, not because she necessarily looked like a criminal. She chose that life for herself, rather than some, who fall into it because of bad circumstances.
DeleteYeah, she had some issues tonight, but she came out alive, so she's going to be stronger from these experiences. She really got the shock of her life seeing him in her apartment, LOL, because one, he was supposed to be dead, and two, how did he know where she lived? O_O Creepy. LOL.
Yes, you're right, her boss won't kill her, LOL. You'll find out what she does soon. XD
Lol, so uh . . . Hi?
ReplyDeleteWell, it's been a very long time xD I kinda stopped writing for a while, but it was because of some personal problems and health, etc.
Long story short, nothing too serious, and I'll hopefully start writing again in a week or two.
Anyways:
This story may be a little confusing right now, but normally, that's what makes the story good, right? I think that this will be an amazing story as it unravels :)
I wonder how her boyfriend got into her apartment? Well, at least he looks pretty hot xD If I had a boyfriend whom I thought that was dead or something, I'd probably faint from seeing him in my house late at night.
Drug dealing is never safe, (never done it, and won't, but I know it's not safe) but I guess that she enjoys the thrilling feeling of it, and as long as she's alive and well, no one can really stop her xD
Can't wait to read more!
Hi parabee. :D Glad you're doing better now, and thank you for stopping by.
DeleteWell, yeah, I made it not obvious what was happening in this chapter to hook people's attention because of the high mystery content. Thanks for the compliment.
LOL, well he is a criminal, so he has a lot of lock picking, and sneaking around skills, that's how he got in. Natalia was pretty shocked, LOL I think I show her O_O face (where her eyes are all big) at the beginning of the next chapter.
Haha, Natalia values excitement more than safety, like she'll deal with things as they come along, which is why she was running away from those thugs. No way she'd pick a safer career because she'll get bored. She's good at what she does too, so she doesn't want to stop because it's fun for her.
Well HI! I am super late to the party. For some reason I thought I had read your blog already >_<
ReplyDeleteThis is a really great start! I love your writing style and the description you put into it. The way you changed her hair to fit what was going on was an amazing detail.
I'm glad I realized I had missed yours as I am enjoying it now :-)
Hi Vuneca! I'm super late to the replying to comments thing. LOL.
DeleteThank you so much, I'm glad that you're enjoying my writing style, and that you liked the detail. I think detail is what makes a story seem more realistic.
Thanks for stopping by and reading! I'm sorry it took me so long to answer you.
